Zechariah 10 contrasts false guidance with God’s faithful leadership. The people had followed idols and deceptive leaders, resulting in confusion and scattering. God declares His anger against corrupt shepherds and promises to personally restore His flock.
The chapter emphasizes divine initiative: God visits, strengthens, gathers, and restores His people. What was scattered is regathered; what was weak becomes strong. God’s redemption is rooted in mercy, not merit, and results in renewed security and purpose.
Zechariah 10 prepares the way for Christ as the true Shepherd. Jesus fulfills this promise by gathering the scattered, exposing false leaders, and strengthening His people through truth and grace.
The cornerstone imagery points directly to Christ — the foundation of God’s people — while the promise of restored leadership anticipates His righteous reign.
Zechariah 10 — The Lord Will Strengthen His People
Verse 1 — Ask the Lord
Ask the Lord for rain in its season
From the Lord who makes the storm clouds rise
He gives showers for every field
Each plant beneath the skies
But idols speak empty breath
Diviners offer lies
Dreams deceive, comfort fails
Like sheep with no one to guide
Chorus — The Lord Has Visited
The Lord has visited His flock
The house of Judah, called His own
He makes them like a mighty horse
In battle strong and known
From Him the cornerstone will stand
From Him the tent peg holds
From Him the ruler’s bow goes forth
The strength no one can fold
Verse 2 — False Shepherds
My anger burns against the shepherds
I will punish leaders who mislead
The goats who fed on power and fear
Will answer for the flock they bleed
The people wandered far and wide
Because no shepherd truly cared
They suffered loss, were pushed aside
Unprotected, unprepared
Pre-Chorus
What was scattered, I will find
What was weakened, I will bind
Chorus — The Lord Has Visited
The Lord has visited His flock
The house of Judah, called His own
He makes them like a mighty horse
In battle strong and known
From Him the cornerstone will stand
From Him the tent peg holds
From Him the ruler’s bow goes forth
The strength no one can fold
Verse 3 — Strength Restored
I will strengthen Judah’s house
And save the house of Joseph too
I will bring them back because I care
Because My mercy’s true
They will be like I never cast them off
For I am still their God
I will answer when they call
Restore the path they trod
Bridge — The Regathering
I will whistle — they will come
I will gather, for I redeemed
They will be many, fruitful still
Just as once they seemed
From distant lands I sowed them wide
Yet I will bring them home
Their children see and live again
No longer left alone
Verse 4 — Passing Through the Sea
I will pass through the sea of trouble
Strike the waves until they fall
The depths will dry, the pride of kings
Will answer to My call
Scepters break, oppressors fade
Their power will not endure
I will strengthen them in My name
And they will walk secure
Final Chorus — Strong in the Lord
Strong in the Lord, they will stand
Walking in His name
No longer driven by fear or lies
No longer bound by shame
The Lord has spoken — it is done
His people made whole again
Outro — Gathered
He whistles — they return.
He strengthens — they stand.
