Timothy 1
Paul instructs Timothy to confront false teachers in Ephesus. Some were obsessed with speculative teachings and misusing the Law. Paul clarifies: the Law exposes sin, but the gospel saves sinners. He then shares his own testimony as proof that no one is beyond Christ’s mercy.
Timothy 2
Paul gives instruction for public worship. He calls believers to pray for all people, including governing authorities, so that the church may live peacefully. He emphasizes the universal scope of salvation through Christ. He then addresses conduct within worship gatherings, grounding his instructions in creation order.

Timothy 4
Paul instructs Timothy on how to relate to various groups in the church: older and younger members, widows, elders, and those in sin. He emphasizes respect, discernment, and accountability within the family of God.
Timothy 5
Paul warns of future false teaching — particularly ascetic distortions that forbid what God created as good. He instructs Timothy to reject empty myths and instead pursue godliness through discipline. Timothy must model maturity despite his youth and guard both his conduct and teaching.
Timothy 6
Paul addresses servants and masters briefly, urging conduct that honors God. He then confronts false teachers who treat godliness as financial gain. Paul contrasts greed with contentment and commands Timothy to pursue righteousness and fight the good fight of faith. He ends with a majestic description of God’s sovereignty and a warning to the wealthy.
