Paul writes to a church still suffering persecution. Instead of promising immediate escape, he assures them that their endurance is evidence of God’s righteous judgment. Justice is coming. Relief is coming.

Some believers feared that the Day of the Lord had already come. Paul corrects them. Certain events must precede it — including rebellion and the revealing of the “man of lawlessness.” Yet even this rebellion is under God’s sovereign restraint.
3 Thessalonians — 2 Teaching Summary
Paul asks for prayer that the gospel would spread and that he would be delivered from wicked opposition. He then addresses disorderly believers who had stopped working — possibly thinking Christ’s return excused responsibility.
