Song of Solomon 5 — “I Opened, But He Was Gone”

Verse 1 — Beloved (Bride)

I slept, but still my heart was near,

I heard His voice, I felt Him here.

“Open to Me, My love,” He said,

With night’s cold dew upon His head.

I hesitated, slow to rise,

Comfort whispered gentle lies.

By the time I reached the door,

His presence lingered—nothing more.

Chorus — Beloved

I opened wide, but He was gone,

My heart broke loose when dawn drew on.

I searched the streets, I called His name,

Love pulled me through the hurt and shame.
