Romans 16 teaches:
This chapter answers:
What does gospel-shaped community look like?
In Romans 16, Christ is:
From courtroom… To cross… To Spirit… To mission… To worship.
Romans ends where it began:
The righteousness of God revealed in Jesus Christ.
Romans 16
I commend to you our sister,
Phoebe, servant faithful, true.
Receive her in the Lord with honor;
Give her help in what she’ll do.
Greet Priscilla and Aquila,
Fellow workers, bold and brave.
They risked their lives for mine in Christ —
Their courage helped to save.
Greet the church that meets within
Their house in faithful flame.
Greet Epaenetus, firstfruits won
For Christ in Asia’s name.
Greet Mary who worked hard for you.
Greet Andronicus and Junia too —
Well known among the apostles’ band,
In Christ before I knew.
Greet each laborer in the Lord,
Each faithful servant strong.
The churches of the Gentiles send
Their greetings in this song.
Now I urge you, brothers, watch —
Mark those who divide,
Who teach against the truth you learned
And stir up selfish pride.
Such men do not serve Christ our Lord,
But serve their appetite.
With smooth and flattering words they seek
To turn hearts from the right.
Be wise in what is good and pure,
In evil innocent.
The God of peace will soon crush Satan
Under feet heaven-sent.
Grace of Christ be with you still.
Stand firm in what you’ve heard.
The gospel preached now made known
Through prophetic written Word.
Revealed by God’s eternal plan,
To all the nations shown —
So faith-filled obedience may rise
To Him on wisdom’s throne.
To the only wise and sovereign God
Through Jesus Christ the Son —
Be glory now and evermore,
Eternal praise begun.
Community strong.
Truth guarded.
God victorious.
