Romans 12 answers:

How should justified people live?

Not by fear.
Not by pride.
But as living sacrifices shaped by mercy.

Christ Lens

In Romans 12, Christ is:

  • The ultimate living sacrifice
• The humble Servant
• The One who blessed His enemies
• The Conqueror of evil through good

The mercy we received in chapters 1–11
Now becomes the mercy we extend.

Romans 12

Therefore, in view of mercy shown,

In light of grace so clearly known,

Present your bodies to the Lord —

A living sacrifice outpoured.

Holy and pleasing in His sight,

This is worship true and right.

Not shaped by patterns of this age,

But mind renewed, transformed in change.

Then you will know His will revealed —

What’s good and perfect, Spirit-sealed.

Do not think more highly than

You ought within His sovereign plan.

But measure self with sober mind,

By faith the Lord has assigned.

For as one body has many parts,

Each with function in their parts,

So we, though many, still remain

One body — joined in Christ’s own name.

If gifted — serve in what you’ve been:

If prophecy, speak faith within.

If serving, serve; if teaching, teach.

If giving, give with open reach.

If leading, lead with earnest care.

If mercy’s yours — show joy there.

Let love be genuine and pure.

Hate what is evil; cling secure

To what is good. In honor place

Each other first in humble grace.

Never lacking zeal or fire,

Serve the Lord with full desire.

Rejoice in hope, be patient still

In suffering — pray through every hill.

Share with saints who stand in need.

Practice hospitality.

Bless those who persecute your way.

Bless — do not curse what they may say.

Rejoice with those who laugh in light;

Weep with those who weep at night.

Live in harmony, free from pride.

Do not let conceit abide.

Associate with lowly place;

Do not claim superior space.

Repay no one with evil’s hand,

But do what all can understand

As honorable in every sight —

Pursue what leads to peace and right.

If possible, as far as lies

Within your reach — let peace arise.

Beloved, never take revenge;

Leave wrath to God’s own righteous edge.

“For vengeance is Mine,” He has said —

Justice rests where He has tread.

If your enemy hungers — feed.

If thirsty — give him drink in need.

In doing so, coals you will place

Upon his head — conviction’s grace.

Do not be conquered by what’s wrong —

But conquer evil by what’s strong.

Mercy received.

Mercy lived.
