Peter 5 — Shepherding and Steadfastness

Peter addresses elders: shepherd willingly, not for gain, but eagerly. Lead by example. The Chief Shepherd will appear with unfading glory.

Younger believers are called to humility. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Cast anxieties on Him because He cares.

The devil prowls like a roaring lion, but believers resist him, standing firm in faith. After suffering for a little while, God Himself will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish them.

Christ Foreshadowing Anchor

Jesus is the Chief Shepherd.
He humbled Himself and was exalted.
He intercedes for anxious hearts.
He restores after suffering and shares His eternal glory.

1 Peter 5 — “After a Little While”

1 Peter 5

Verse 1

To elders walking with the flock,

Shepherd not by force or clock.

Not for gain nor hardened hand,

But eager hearts at His command.

Lead by living what you teach,

Let your life the message preach.

For when the Chief Shepherd appears,

Glory crowns the faithful years.

Chorus

Clothe yourselves in humble grace,

Pride has no abiding place.

Cast your burdens, every care —

He is faithful, He is there.

Verse 2

Younger ones, submit in trust,

All of you in meekness clothed.

God resists the prideful rise,

Gives grace where humility lies.

Humble low beneath His hand,

He will lift you as He planned.

Pre-Chorus

Cast your anxieties away —

He cares for you each day.

Verse 3

Be alert, the lion roams,

Seeking weak and wandering homes.

Firm in faith, resist his lies,

Shared your suffering under skies.

Across the world the faithful stand,

Trials woven through His hand.

Bridge — The Promise

After you have suffered so,

Just a little while below —

He Himself will make you strong,

Restore what felt undone too long.

Confirm, establish, strengthen frame,

Glory bound to Jesus’ name.

Final Chorus

To Him be dominion evermore,

Through the trial, through the war.

Grace will hold and hope will rise —

Stand firm in what never dies.
