Peter 3 — Beauty, Unity, and Witness in Suffering

Peter addresses relationships: wives and husbands, emphasizing inner beauty and respectful love. The call is mutual honor, not domination.

Believers are to live in harmony, sympathy, and humility. They are to bless, not retaliate. Suffering for righteousness is not shameful.

Peter points to Christ who suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, bringing us to God. Even in death, He proclaimed victory. Baptism is described not as ritual cleansing but as appeal to God for a good conscience through resurrection.

Christ Foreshadowing Anchor

Jesus suffered once to bring us to God.
He entrusted Himself to the Father.
His resurrection secures our conscience and hope.
He transforms unjust suffering into redemptive witness.

1 Peter 3 — “A Gentle Strength”

Verse 1

Wives, let your beauty not be found

In outward braid or jeweled crown,

But hidden heart that does not fade —

A quiet strength that will not break.

Sarah trusted, called him lord,

Hoped in God, not in reward.

Husbands, live with honor clear,

Guard her heart, draw near, draw near.

As co-heirs walking side by side,

Let no harshness there reside.

Chorus

Clothe yourselves in humble grace,

Unity in every place.

Bless when cursed, endure the wrong,

For to this calling you belong.

Verse 2

Sympathy and brotherly love,

Tender hearts from God above.

Do not answer wrong with flame,

But blessing speak in Jesus’ name.

Who would harm if you pursue

What is right and good and true?

Yet if suffering comes your way,

Do not fear what they may say.

Pre-Chorus

Sanctify Christ as Lord inside,

Let your hope be your reply.

Verse 3

Answer gently when they ask

Why you stand through fire and task.

Keep your conscience clean and bright —

Shame will fade before the Light.

Better suffering for what’s right

Than for sin that dims your sight.

Bridge — The Center

Christ once suffered for our sin,

Righteous for the unjust in.

Put to death in fleshly frame,

Made alive in Spirit flame.

He proclaimed in victory bold,

Triumph no grave could hold.

In the days when Noah stood,

Eight were saved through rising flood.

Baptism now this truth displays —

Not mere washing of old ways,

But conscience turned toward heaven’s throne

Through the Risen Son alone.

Final Chorus

Jesus seated high above,

Angels, powers under love.

Gentle strength and fearless stand —

All authority in His hand.
