The Israelites are commanded to remove those who are defiled from the camp so that God’s dwelling remains pure. Instructions follow for making restitution for wrongs and for testing marital faithfulness through a ritual of jealousy. This chapter emphasizes that holiness extends beyond worship into daily relationships. God calls His people to moral and spiritual purity, truthfulness, and accountability before Him, showing that personal sin affects the whole community.
