The Levite clans are counted by those fit for service, aged thirty to fifty, and each receives detailed instructions for transporting the Tabernacle’s sacred objects. The Kohathites are warned not to look upon or touch the holy furnishings directly, lest they die. These careful instructions teach reverence in approaching what is sacred. God’s holiness is not casual or common, and service in His presence must be carried out with obedience, respect, and fear of the Lord.
