God chooses the Levites in place of the firstborn of Israel to serve the Tabernacle. Each Levitical family—Gershon, Kohath, and Merari—is given specific duties, from carrying curtains to handling the holy furniture. The Levites belong wholly to God, representing the nation before Him. Through this, God shows that holiness involves both separation and service. He alone determines how His worship is conducted, and His people are called to serve faithfully in the roles He assigns.
