Numbers 20 — The Waters of Meribah and the Death of Aaron

The people again complain for water at Kadesh. God tells Moses to speak to the rock, but in anger he strikes it twice. Water flows, but God tells Moses he will not enter the Promised Land because he did not honor Him as holy. Miriam dies, Edom refuses passage, and Aaron dies on Mount Hor, succeeded by his son Eleazar. This chapter shows that even faithful leaders are accountable to God’s holiness and that obedience matters more than frustration or pride.
