With the wall complete, Nehemiah turns to restore the people spiritually and administratively. He appoints faithful leaders, secures the gates, and registers returning families by genealogy, emphasizing identity, heritage, and belonging. God had preserved His people through exile, and now He reestablishes them with purpose.
Christ-Foreshadowing: The careful listing of God’s people foreshadows Christ, who writes the names of His redeemed in the Book of Life and gathers them into His eternal Kingdom.
