Nahum 3 delivers the final judgment against Nineveh. The city is condemned for extreme violence, deception, exploitation, and spiritual corruption. The prophet uses graphic imagery to show the cost of its cruelty — countless victims, unchecked bloodshed, and moral decay.
God exposes Nineveh publicly, stripping away its power, reputation, and false confidence. Historical comparison to Thebes proves that even the strongest cities fall under God’s judgment. Every attempted defense fails. Leaders disappear. The empire dissolves.
The chapter ends with finality: Nineveh’s fall brings relief, not mourning. Justice has answered long-standing oppression.
Nahum 3 shows the certainty of divine justice. Evil left unrepented will not endure forever. This prepares the heart for Christ, where judgment and mercy meet.
For those who refuse mercy, justice remains.
For those who seek refuge, Christ bears the wound instead.
Nahum ends without hope for Nineveh —
so the gospel can later announce hope for the world.
Nahum 3 — There Is No Healing
Verse 1 — City of Blood
Woe to the city soaked in blood
Built on lies, upheld by fraud
Endless plunder, never filled
Prey devoured by ruthless will
The crack of whips, the rumble loud
Galloping hooves, wheels unbowed
Slain in heaps, bodies piled
No end to those your sword defiled
Chorus — No Healing
There is no healing for your wound
Your injury is grave
All who hear the news of you
Clap their hands — unafraid
For who has not felt your cruelty?
Who escaped your reign?
There is no healing for your wound
No one mourns your name
Verse 2 — Cause Named
Because of your many sins
Your seductive spells within
Mistress of witchcraft, skilled in lies
Selling nations, binding lives
You traded power, charm, and fear
To make the helpless disappear
You enslaved with velvet chains
And called oppression gain
Pre-Chorus
This is not sudden — not unfair
This is the truth laid bare
Chorus — No Healing
There is no healing for your wound
Your injury is grave
All who hear the news of you
Clap their hands — unafraid
For who has not felt your cruelty?
Who escaped your reign?
There is no healing for your wound
No one mourns your name
Verse 3 — Exposed
“Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord
I lift your shame before the world
I strip you bare before the nations’ eyes
Show your nakedness, your lies
All who see you turn away
Disgusted by the price you made
“Who will grieve? Who will stay?”
None step forward — none remain
Bridge — False Confidence
Are you better than Thebes was once?
Secure by rivers, walls, and force?
Yet Thebes fell — her people chained
Exile swallowed, power drained
Still you trusted in your might
Your walls, your gold, your endless fight
But strength cannot outlast the Lord
No city stands when truth is poured
Verse 4 — Futile Preparation
Draw your water, strengthen walls
Prepare for siege — it still will fall
Fire devours, sword consumes
Your warriors scatter, overcome
Your merchants multiplied the stars
But vanish quick — like locust swarms
Your guards like insects flee the flame
When daylight comes — they leave no name
Final Chorus — The Verdict
There is no healing for your wound
Your injury is grave
All the earth hears what you’ve done
And justice answers pain
Your shepherds sleep, your nobles rest
Your people scattered — leaderless
There is no healing for your wound
The end is final — said and done
Outro — Silence
Your wound is mortal.
Your fall complete.
The Lord has spoken.
