Matthew 25 completes Jesus’ teaching on readiness and judgment that began in Matthew 24. Through three parables, Jesus explains what watchfulness looks like in daily life.
The parable of the ten bridesmaids teaches that spiritual readiness is personal and cannot be transferred. Being associated with faith is not the same as living prepared for Christ’s return.
The parable of the talents reveals that faithfulness requires active stewardship, not passive preservation. God expects His people to use what they have been given for His purposes, trusting His character rather than hiding in fear.
The final scene of the sheep and the goats shows that true allegiance to Christ is revealed through love expressed in action, especially toward the vulnerable. Acts of mercy are not a means of earning salvation, but evidence of transformed hearts.
Together, these teachings emphasize that discipleship is not about speculation or delay, but about living faithfully, responsibly, and compassionately until Christ returns.
Jesus reveals Himself as the Bridegroom, the Returning Master, and the Glorious King and Judge. Each role points forward to His return, where faith will be revealed not by profession alone, but by perseverance, obedience, and love.
Matthew 25 — Be Found Faithful
(Song Lyrics — Story-Centered)
Verse 1 — Waiting with Oil
Ten bridesmaids waited through the night,
All dressed the same, all lamps alight.
Five were ready, oil in store,
Five assumed they’d need no more.
The midnight cry split dark and sleep,
The door swung wide — the cost ran deep.
Too late they knocked, too late they cried,
Readiness can’t be borrowed in time.
Pre-Chorus
The call is sudden, the wait is long,
Faith is proven when hope holds on.
Chorus — Be Found Faithful
Be found faithful when the night feels long,
When the waiting tests what you lean on.
Not just knowing, not just saying,
But living ready, watching, praying.
When the Bridegroom calls your name,
Be found faithful — not ashamed.
Verse 2 — Entrusted and Invested
A master left with work to do,
Placed his wealth in trusted few.
Each received what he could bear,
Not equal sums — but equal care.
Two went out and risked the gain,
One hid fear beneath the plain.
The ground was safe, the servant cold,
What was buried never grew bold.
Chorus — Be Found Faithful
Be found faithful with what you’re given,
Not frozen by fear, but fully driven.
What you’re trusted with today
Reveals what you truly believe.
“Well done” waits beyond the door
For servants who invest, not store.
Verse 3 — The King and the Least
The nations gathered, the throne revealed,
The Son of Man with glory sealed.
Sheep to the right, goats to the left,
Love exposed by what was kept.
“I was hungry — did you feed?
A stranger — did you see?
Naked, sick, imprisoned too—
What you did to them, you did to Me.”
Bridge — The Great Surprise
They asked, “Lord, when did we see
Your face in such humility?”
He answered plain for all to hear:
Love lived out proves faith sincere.
Not miracles, not words alone,
But mercy shown becomes the tone.
Final Chorus — Be Found Faithful
Be found faithful when the King appears,
When hidden lives are finally clear.
Not by fear, not by delay,
But love in action day by day.
The door will close, the throne will stand—
Be found faithful when He comes again.
Outro
The oil burns, the talents tell,
The sheep are known by love lived well.
Not guessing dates, not empty claim,
But faithful lives that bear His Name.
