Matthew 24

Matthew 24 records Jesus’ private prophetic teaching to His disciples concerning the future, spoken on the Mount of Olives. Jesus begins by predicting the destruction of the temple, shifting attention away from physical structures toward spiritual readiness.

He warns of deception, false messiahs, wars, disasters, persecution, and widespread betrayal. These events are described as birth pains — real, increasing signs, but not the end itself. Jesus emphasizes endurance, faithfulness, and discernment rather than fear or date-setting.

Jesus then speaks of a time of unparalleled distress, referencing the prophecy of Daniel, followed by His unmistakable return in glory. Unlike false claims, Christ’s return will be visible, sudden, and global. The chapter concludes with repeated calls to watchfulness, teaching that while signs can be recognized, the exact timing remains unknown.

The message of Matthew 24 is clear: disciples are called not to panic, speculate, or withdraw, but to remain faithful, alert, and grounded in Christ’s words until He comes.

Christ-Foreshadowing

Jesus reveals Himself as the Son of Man foretold by the prophets — the One who will return with power and glory. His warning anticipates both the fall of Jerusalem and the final judgment, while His promise of gathering the elect points to ultimate restoration and hope.

Matthew 24

They marveled at the stones so wide,

The holy place in human pride.

But Jesus spoke with grieving breath,

“Not one stone stands — all face their death.”

They asked Him quietly, “When will this be?

What sign reveals the end we’ll see?”

He turned their eyes from awe to truth,

From buildings strong to hearts made proof.

Do not mistake what looks secure

For what alone will still endure.

Chorus — Watch and Be Ready

Watch and be ready, stay awake,

Do not be fooled for comfort’s sake.

The end begins with subtle lies,

Truth is lost when fear complies.

Not every cry that claims My Name

Is born from heaven’s flame.

Watch and be ready — stand your ground.

“Many will come and claim My face,

Leading hearts to counterfeit grace.

Wars will rumble, nations shake,

Earth will groan like childbirth aches.

Famine, plague, and quaking land,

These are not the final stand.

The beginning pains will rise and fall,

But this is not the end of all.”

Watch and be ready, do not fear,

These signs alone do not make it clear.

Do not run when rumors roar,

Endurance matters more and more.

He who stands through trial and flame

Will not bear the loss of shame.

Watch and be ready — stand your ground.

“You will be hated for My Name,

Brother turns and love grows strange.

False prophets rise with shining words,

Cold hearts drift from what they heard.

But those who last in faithful love

Will stand when others give up.

This gospel preached to every land,

Then the end comes as I planned.”

Bridge — The Abomination

“When you see what Daniel spoke,

The holy place by evil choked,

Let the wise flee without delay,

No turning back, no time to stay.

Woe to those with child that day,

Pray the season grants escape.

Such distress the world has known

Will shake the earth to marrowed bone.”

“If they say, ‘He’s here or there,’

Do not follow empty glare.

Lightning flashes east to west,

So My coming will be confessed.

No secret rooms, no whispered sign,

All will know when I arrive.

Sun grows dark, the stars fall low,

Heaven itself will start to groan.”

Watch and be ready, lift your eyes,

The Son of Man splits open skies.

With trumpet sound and angel cry,

The chosen gathered far and wide.

Heaven and earth will pass away,

But My words will always stay.

Watch and be ready — live by truth.

Learn the lesson trees reveal,

Seasons speak what time conceals.

You do not know the day or hour,

So live awake in faithful power.

Like days of Noah, life will flow,

Until the flood no one would know.
