Luke 6 reveals what life looks like under God’s Kingdom. Jesus confronts religious legalism by showing that mercy fulfills the Sabbath. He heals openly, valuing people over rules, and establishes His authority as Lord of rest.
After a night of prayer, Jesus chooses the Twelve, grounding leadership in communion with the Father. He then teaches the great reversal: the poor, hungry, and rejected are blessed, while those trusting in comfort and power are warned.
Jesus calls His followers to radical love — loving enemies, practicing mercy, and examining their own hearts before judging others. The chapter concludes with the parable of two foundations, showing that obedience — not hearing alone — determines spiritual stability.
Luke 6 foreshadows Christ as the embodiment of God’s mercy and justice. His teaching anticipates the cross, where enemies are loved, forgiveness is given, and mercy triumphs over judgment. The call to build on the rock points forward to Christ Himself as the only sure foundation.

Full Song Lyrics
Verse 1 — The Sabbath Field
It was the Sabbath, walking through grain
Hungry hands reached out in plain
The Pharisees watched every move
Measured mercy by their rules
Jesus spoke what cut through fear
“The Son of Man is Lord — even here”
Verse 2 — The Withered Hand
Another Sabbath, gathered inside
A man stood broken, nowhere to hide
They watched to see what He would do
If love would break their rigid view
“Is it lawful — life or death?”
Silence answered, He took a breath
“Stretch it out” — the hand was whole
Hard hearts stayed, but mercy rolled
Chorus — Not Like This World
Not like this world, not like their ways
The Kingdom moves with different weight
Where love decides, not power’s rule
God’s justice looks like mercy too
Verse 3 — Chosen Ones
That night He prayed till the break of dawn
When morning came, the twelve were drawn
From many names, He chose them there
To walk with Him, to learn His care
A crowd pressed in from near and far
Healing flowed from who You are
Verse 4 — Blessed and Woe
He lifted His eyes, began to speak
To the poor, the hungry, the meek
“Blessed are you when you have none
The Kingdom’s yours — the day will come
But woe to those who laugh and feast
Who trust their gain and live at ease”
Chorus — Reversal Song
What seems strong will fall away
What’s cast down will rise one day
God’s Kingdom turns the scales around
The lost are found, the low are crowned
Verse 5 — Love Your Enemies
“Love your enemies,” He said out loud
“Pray for those who tear you down
Do good back when harm is given
That’s how God loves — that’s how He’s driven”
The measure you use will come again
Mercy poured brings mercy in
Verse 6 — The Blind and the Log
Can the blind lead blind along?
Both will fall if the way is wrong
First remove what clouds your view
Then help your brother clearly too
A tree is known by what it bears
The heart is shown by what it shares
Final Chorus — Build on the Rock
Those who hear and live it true
Build on rock that won’t give through
Storms will come, the ground will shake
But truth obeyed will never break
Outro
A different Kingdom, a different call
Not just hearing — but living it all
