Luke 11 teaches what a life aligned with God looks like — beginning with prayer and extending into integrity. Jesus teaches His disciples to pray simply and relationally, trusting God for daily provision, forgiveness, and protection. Through parables and instruction, He emphasizes persistence and confidence in God’s goodness.
Jesus then confronts accusations that His power comes from darkness, explaining that His authority reveals the defeat of evil, not alliance with it. He warns that neutrality is impossible — people either align with God’s work or resist it.
The chapter concludes with strong rebukes against religious hypocrisy. Jesus exposes outward cleanliness without inward justice, warning that hearing truth without obeying it leads to spiritual blindness.
Luke 11 foreshadows Christ as the stronger One who overcomes evil and brings lasting freedom. His teaching on prayer anticipates His own intercession, and His call to light-filled obedience points toward the cross, where truth and mercy fully meet.
Luke 11 — “Teach Us to Pray
Verse 1 —
He prayed alone, the moment still
When He finished, one asked Him
“Teach us how to pray this way
Like You speak with God each day”
Chorus —
When you pray, begin like this
Father holy, near, not distant
Let Your Kingdom shape our days
Give us bread, forgive our ways
Verse 2 —
Forgive us as we forgive
Give us what we need to live
Lead us not where trials stay
Deliver us along the way
Verse 3 —
A friend arrives when night is late
No bread to give, no time to wait
He knocks and knocks, the door is tight
But persistence wins the night
Chorus —
Ask and you will surely find
Seek with open heart and mind
Knock — the door will open wide
The Father gives, not turns aside
Verse 4 —
What father gives a child a stone?
Or harm when good is clearly known?
If broken hearts still know what’s right
God gives the Spirit — living light
Verse 5 —
A demon fled, the crowd amazed
Some accused Him in jealous ways
“A kingdom split cannot remain
Darkness doesn’t break its chain”
A stronger One has come to stand
And free what evil thought it had
Chorus — With or Against
There’s no middle ground to stay
Light and dark won’t share the same
What is empty won’t remain
It will be filled again
Verse 6 —
A voice cried out, “Blessed is Your birth!”
He answered, “Blessed are those who work
To hear God’s word and live it true
Not just knowing — but doing too”
Verse 7 —
No sign but Jonah will be shown
Let the light inside be whole
If your eye is clear, you’ll see
If dark within, what will it be?
Verse 8 —
You clean the cup, but miss the heart
Justice, mercy torn apart
You love the praise, the honored seat
But block the path where heaven meets
Final Chorus — Teach Us to Pray
Teach us to pray with honest breath
To trust You daily, forgive like this
To walk in light, to choose Your way
Not just to hear — but to obey
