Judges 4 recounts Israel’s oppression under Jabin of Canaan and his commander Sisera, who held Israel in terror with nine hundred iron chariots. God raises Deborah, a prophetess, who instructs Barak to gather ten thousand men. Barak insists she accompany him, and Deborah agrees, warning that the honor will go to a woman. At God’s command, Barak charges down Mount Tabor and defeats Sisera’s army. Sisera flees to the tent of Jael, who kills him, fulfilling Deborah’s word. This chapter reveals God using women, warriors, and unexpected instruments to rescue His people, proving that victory belongs to the Lord alone.
