Judges 14 — Samson’s Marriage and Riddle

Judges 14 shows Samson desiring a Philistine wife, worrying his parents, yet part of God’s plan to confront the Philistines. On the journey, Samson kills a lion by the Spirit’s power and later finds honey in its carcass. At his wedding feast, he poses a riddle based on this event. The Philistines threaten his bride, who presses Samson until he reveals the answer. Enraged by their betrayal, Samson kills thirty men to pay the wager, and his bride is given to another. The chapter reveals both Samson’s strength and his impulsive, flawed character.
