With sin removed, God instructs Joshua to take Ai through an ambush. Israel feigns retreat, drawing Ai’s army out, while the ambush force captures and burns the city. After the victory, Joshua builds an altar on Mount Ebal, writes the Law on stones, and reads the blessings and curses of the covenant to all Israel—men, women, children, and foreigners. This chapter reveals God’s restoration after repentance, the power of obedience, and the centrality of God’s Word in the life of His people. It foreshadows Christ, who fulfills the Law and brings restoration after sin.
