God gives Joshua an unconventional battle plan: Israel must march silently around Jericho for six days, led by priests blowing ram’s horns and carrying the Ark. On the seventh day they circle seven times, then shout, and God himself collapses the walls. Israel destroys the city as devoted to the Lord, but Rahab and her family are spared, demonstrating how covenant mercy triumphs over judgment. Joshua pronounces a curse on anyone who rebuilds Jericho. This chapter teaches obedience over strategy, God’s power over human strength, and salvation available to anyone—like Rahab—who places faith in the God of Israel. It foreshadows Christ destroying spiritual strongholds and rescuing those who cling to His covenant.
