Five Amorite kings attack Gibeon for joining Israel, and Joshua marches all night to defend them. God throws the enemy into confusion and sends deadly hailstones. Joshua prays boldly, and God miraculously prolongs the day so Israel can finish the battle—“there has never been a day like it.” The five kings hide in a cave but are brought out and judged. Israel conquers the southern cities as God fights for His people. This chapter highlights God’s cosmic power, His defense of covenant allies, and the call to bold faith. It foreshadows Christ, the Captain of salvation, who defeats every spiritual enemy.
