John 15 explains the ongoing relationship between Jesus and His followers. Using the image of a vine and branches, Jesus teaches that spiritual life, growth, and fruit come only through remaining connected to Him.
Jesus commands His disciples to love one another sacrificially and prepares them for rejection from the world. He promises the Holy Spirit, who will testify about Him and empower believers to do the same.
Jesus reveals Himself as the true Vine, the source of all spiritual life. His promise to lay down His life anticipates the cross, while the sending of the Helper points forward to the Spirit’s empowering presence after His departure.

Full Song Lyrics
Verse 1 — The True Vine
He said, “I am the Vine that’s true
My Father tends what’s living through
Each branch in Me that bears no fruit
He lifts away — each fruitful shoot
He prunes with care — not to destroy
But so it grows with deeper joy”
Chorus — Abide in Me
Abide in Me — and I in you
Apart from Me — there’s nothing you can do
Stay where life is drawn and given
Rooted deep — to bear what’s living
Verse 2 — Fruit That Remains
As branches live by vine alone
So you live through Me — not on your own
If you remain — My words stay near
You’ll ask in trust — the path grows clear
The Father’s glory will be shown
When lasting fruit has fully grown
Verse 3 — Loved as I Am Loved
“As the Father has loved Me
So I have loved you — faithfully
Remain within My love each day
By walking in My Father’s way
I’ve told you this so joy stays whole
My joy in you — your joy made full”
Chorus — This Is My Command
Love each other as I have loved you
Lay down your life — as I will do
No greater love has ever been
Than laying life down for a friend
Verse 4 — Friends, Not Servants
“I call you friends — not servants now
You know My heart — I’ve shown you how
All that the Father spoke to Me
I’ve made known — no secrecy
I chose you first — you didn’t choose
That you’d go bear fruit they can’t remove”
Verse 5 — When the World Hates You
“If the world hates — remember this
It hated Me before it hissed
You’re not its own — you’re called from out
That’s why it turns — and casts its doubt
If they opposed the words I gave
They’ll do the same to those I save”
Chorus — Not of the World
You do not belong where hatred grows
You are My own — the world will know
If they reject the truth I speak
They will reject the ones who keep
Verse 6 — The Helper Will Come
“When the Helper comes from Me
The Spirit sent from God’s decree
He will testify what’s true
And you will speak — bear witness too
From the start — you’ve walked My way
Now tell the truth — whatever they say”
Final Chorus — Remain
Remain in Me — the source of life
Through pruning pain — through joy and strife
What grows from Me will always stand
Fruit from love — not from demand
Outro
The Vine stood firm — the branches heard
Life would flow through staying — not through force or sword
