Job concludes his speeches with a solemn oath that he has lived righteously. He lists areas where he has been faithful:
• He kept his heart and eyes pure
• He treated servants justly
• He cared for the poor, widows, and orphans
• He never trusted in wealth
• He avoided idolatry
• He did not rejoice in enemies’ misfortune
• He kept hospitality open Job invites God to weigh him in a perfect balance, believing he would be found upright. Job is not claiming sinlessness—he is claiming a clear conscience. His defense shows he longs for God’s justice and desires to understand why suffering came upon him. This chapter teaches that integrity matters even when misunderstood, and that righteousness includes both private purity and public compassion.
