Job affirms his innocence with an oath, refusing to lie just to satisfy his friends’ false accusations. He vows to remain faithful to God until death. Then Job turns to the destiny of the wicked. He describes their eventual downfall: their wealth cannot save them, their family may suffer, and their legacy may crumble. Job is not contradicting his earlier statements; he is teaching that while the wicked may prosper temporarily (Job 21), their end is still destruction. This chapter teaches that integrity must be held even in suffering, and that God’s justice will ultimately prevail, even if delayed.
