Job answers with dignity and frustration. He accuses his friends of thinking they alone possess wisdom, yet he affirms that everyone knows basic truths about God. He then declares something profound: God’s sovereignty extends over every level of human life—kings, judges, counselors, elders, the strong, the weak, nations rising and nations falling. God controls creation, nations, and individuals, and no human can fully trace His purposes. Job’s point is clear: his friends’ simplified theology cannot account for God’s vast and mysterious governance of the world. This chapter teaches that wisdom must be humble, recognizing that God’s actions cannot always be explained by neat formulas.
