Job turns again to God in prayer, asking why He contends with him. He recalls God’s past care in forming him in the womb and wonders why the God who shaped him with such love now seems to destroy him. Job feels hunted and crushed. He does not understand why God allows this suffering and asks whether God delights in afflicting him. This is Job’s emotional honesty—not rebellion. He clings to the belief that God knows him intimately, but he cannot comprehend why God would bring such misery. This chapter teaches that deep suffering can cloud the heart yet still be brought before God. Job’s prayers reveal that maintaining a relationship with God—even through pain—is itself an act of faith.
