Jeremiah 15 marks a turning point where judgment is declared irreversible and the personal cost of prophecy comes fully into view. God states that even the greatest intercessors of Israel’s past could not avert what is coming. Persistent rebellion has sealed Judah’s fate.
The chapter then reveals the emotional toll on Jeremiah. He is isolated, rejected, and misunderstood — not because of wrongdoing, but because of obedience. His lament is raw and personal, expressing both faith and frustration. Jeremiah does not hide his pain from God; he brings it honestly.
At the center of the chapter is Jeremiah’s testimony: God’s words became his joy and delight. Though those words brought rejection, they also sustained him. God responds by reaffirming Jeremiah’s calling, correcting him gently, and promising strength, protection, and endurance.
Jeremiah 15 teaches that faithfulness does not guarantee ease, but it does guarantee God’s presence. The prophet stands not because circumstances improve, but because God’s word holds him upright.
My Words Became My Joy” — Jeremiah 15
Verse 1 — Judgment Cannot Be Stopped
Even if Moses stood before My face
Or Samuel pled in this place
My heart would not turn them back
Send them away — they will not last
Some to the sword, some to the grave
Some to famine, some enslaved
I appoint four kinds to pursue
Death and loss will follow through
Chorus — The Weight of Rejection
You have made me a man alone
A stranger where I should be known
I have not lent, I have not borrowed
Yet cursed am I today and tomorrow
Because I spoke the truth You gave
I bear the cost… I bear the weight
Verse 2 — The Cause Revealed
Who could forgive such stubborn ways?
Jerusalem’s sins span countless days
Your wealth and treasures I will give
To plunderers you chose to live
Because of sins you would not name
A fire burns with endless flame
It will consume, it will not rest
The fruit of hearts that failed the test
Chorus — The Prophet’s Cry
Remember me, O Lord, and see
Take vengeance on my enemies
Do not let patience for their lies
Become my grave before my time
For Your sake I endure disgrace
I stand because I love Your name
Bridge — God’s Word, My Food
When Your words came, I ate them whole
They were the joy within my soul
I carry now Your holy name
I would not sit with those who play
I sat alone beneath Your hand
Filled with fury, firm to stand
Why is my pain unending still?
Why won’t You heal? Why won’t You fill?
Verse 3 — God’s Hard Answer
“If you return, I’ll restore your place
You’ll stand again before My face
Speak what is precious, not the cheap
Let them turn — but you keep
I’ll make you wall of bronze and fire
They will fight, but they’ll not tire
To lose against what I defend
For I am with you to the end”
Final Chorus — Strength Renewed
My words became my joy and song
Though the road is hard and long
You are my strength, my fortress sure
From violent men You will secure
I will not bend, I will not flee
The Lord Himself stands here with me
Outro — The Sustaining God
You rescued me from ruthless hands
You proved my life within Your plans
Though tears fall still along my way
Your word sustains me day by day
