Light shines into darkness as Isaiah proclaims the coming of a righteous ruler. Despite ongoing judgment, hope remains through the promise of a child who will reign with justice and peace forever.
Jesus is the promised child—the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, and Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9 — “The Light Has Dawned”
Song Lyrics
Verse 1
The people walked in shadowed night,
A land weighed down, no morning light.
Zebulun, Naphtali—scarred by fear,
But dawn is breaking, hope draws near.
On those who lived where death had sway,
A shining light has chased away
The gloom that pressed the spirit low—
A joy the night could never know.
Chorus
The light has dawned, the dark is done,
A child is given, a Son has come.
Joy like harvest fills the land,
Chains are broken by His hand.
The yoke is gone, the battle ceased—
His reign brings everlasting peace.
Verse 2
You multiplied the joy of hearts,
Like harvest songs, new life imparts.
The rod of burden, staff of shame,
Snapped like Midian’s defeated flame.
Boots of war and garments stained
Feed the fire, the fight has waned.
No more thunder, no more sword—
The zeal of God will bring His word.
Chorus
The light has dawned, the dark is done,
A child is given, a Son has come.
Joy like harvest fills the land,
Chains are broken by His hand.
The yoke is gone, the battle ceased—
His reign brings everlasting peace.
Bridge
Wonderful Counselor—wisdom sure,
Mighty God—strength to endure.
Everlasting Father—faithful care,
Prince of Peace—His reign is fair.
Final Chorus
Of His kingdom there’s no end,
Justice, righteousness He sends.
On David’s throne His rule will stand,
From this time forth by God’s own hand.
The light has dawned for all to see—
The zeal of the Lord will do this thing.
Outro
From gloom to glory, night to day…
The promised Light has made a way.
