God calls King Ahaz to trust Him rather than political alliances. Ahaz refuses, masking unbelief with false piety. God gives a sign: a child will be born as assurance of His presence and faithfulness.
The promised Immanuel finds ultimate fulfillment in Jesus—God with us.
Isaiah 7 — “The Sign of Immanuel”
Song Lyrics
Verse 1
The king stood shaking, hearts afraid,
Two fires burned where threats were laid.
From northern kings the rumors came,
Jerusalem trembled at the name.
The Lord said, “Go and speak once more,
Tell the king what I stand for:
‘Take heed, be calm, do not fear,
These smoking brands will soon disappear.’”
Chorus
Stand firm in faith or you won’t stand long,
Trust the Lord when the world feels wrong.
Not by schemes or borrowed might,
But by faith you’ll stand upright.
Hear the word the Lord has planned—
God Himself is with the land.
Verse 2
“Ask for a sign,” the prophet said,
“From deepest place or heights instead.”
But Ahaz spoke with pious tone,
“I will not ask. I’ll stand alone.”
Yet faith refused is faith denied,
Religion masking fear and pride.
So God replied to hearts unsure,
“I’ll give a sign that will endure.”
Chorus
Stand firm in faith or you won’t stand long,
Trust the Lord when the world feels wrong.
Not by schemes or borrowed might,
But by faith you’ll stand upright.
Hear the word the Lord has planned—
God Himself is with the land.
Verse 3
A child will come, a son be born,
Immanuel His name adorns.
Before he knows the good from bad,
The threat you fear will not be had.
But trust refused will bring its cost,
Protection sought from powers lost.
The river swells, the land grows bare,
Yet still the sign remains right there.
Bridge
Butter, honey, days made lean,
What once was full will change the scene.
Yet in the dark, a promise stays:
God with us through troubled days.
Final Chorus
Stand firm in faith or fall away,
Choose whom you trust this very day.
Though kings may fail and plans collapse,
God keeps covenant, never snaps.
Immanuel—this truth will stand:
The Lord our God is with the land.
Outro
God with us… in fear and flame.
Immanuel—still the same.
