Isaiah encounters the holiness of God in the temple. Overwhelmed by God’s glory, Isaiah recognizes his sin and is cleansed by God’s grace. He is then commissioned to proclaim truth to a hardened people.
The chapter reveals God’s holiness, mercy, and sovereign purpose.
Christ reveals God’s holiness fully and provides cleansing not symbolically, but completely through His sacrifice.
Isaiah 6 — “Here Am I, Send Me”
Song Lyrics
Verse 1
In the year the king lay still,
I saw the Lord on Zion’s hill.
High and lifted, throne aflame,
Robes filled heaven with His name.
Seraphim in burning light
Cried through day and through the night:
“Holy, holy, holy Lord,
All the earth is full of glory poured.”
Chorus
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord,
The earth resounds with heaven’s chord.
Every throne and crown must fall,
You alone are over all.
Verse 2
The thresholds shook, the house filled fast,
With smoke and awe that held me fast.
Then I cried, “I’m unclean here,
Sin on lips I cannot clear.”
I dwell among a broken race,
Yet I’ve seen the Holy Face.
My strength undone, my boasting ceased,
Laid bare before His burning peace.
Chorus
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord,
The earth resounds with heaven’s chord.
Every throne and crown must fall,
You alone are over all.
Verse 3
Then a coal from altar fire
Touched my lips, removed the mire.
“Your guilt is gone, your sin erased,
You’re clean before this holy place.”
I heard the Lord’s commanding voice:
“Whom shall We send? Who will go?”
My heart arose, my fear made choice—
“Here am I. Lord, I will go.”
Bridge
Go and speak though hearts grow dull,
Eyes grow dim and ears stay full.
Truth proclaimed will test and burn,
Yet through the stump, new life will turn.
Final Chorus
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord,
From broken hearts Your grace is poured.
Cleaned by fire, sent in love,
Bearing truth from heaven above.
Outro
Here am I… send me.
From holy fire to faithful feet.
