Isaiah 53 Teaching Notes / Biblical Summary

The Servant is revealed as one who suffers on behalf of others. Rejected and despised, He bears grief, sorrow, and sin. His suffering brings healing, forgiveness, and peace to those who believe.

Though innocent, He is crushed, yet God exalts Him, and His sacrifice justifies many.

Christ-Foreshadowing

This chapter finds its clearest fulfillment in Christ, whose sacrificial death brings salvation and reconciliation between God and humanity.

Song Lyrics (Clear + Redemptive)

Verse 1

Who has believed the word we heard?

To whom has God revealed His arm?

He grew like tender shoot from dry,

No beauty to attract the eye.

Despised and left, a man of grief,

Familiar with our sorrows deep.

We turned our backs, we hid our face,

Yet He has borne our broken place.

Chorus

He was pierced for our transgressions,

Bruised for all our iniquities.

The punishment that brought us peace

Was laid on Him so we’d be free.

By His wounds our hearts are healed,

The Lord has laid on Him it all—

The sin of many, great and small.

Verse 2

Oppressed and judged, yet spoke no word,

Like lamb to slaughter, not a sound was heard.

Cut off from land of living’s breath,

He bore our wounds in His own death.

Though none had seen deceit in Him,

He took the stripes for all our sin.

Yet it was the Lord’s own will to crush,

To make His life an offering for us.

Chorus

He was pierced for our transgressions,

Bruised for all our iniquities.

The punishment that brought us peace

Was laid on Him so we’d be free.

By His wounds our hearts are healed,

The Lord has laid on Him it all—

The sin of many, great and small.

Bridge

Yet after suffering’s bitter cup,

He’ll see the light, be lifted up.

He’ll justify the many’s wrongs,

And share the spoil with those He’s won.

For He bore the sin of many souls,

And intercedes to make us whole.

Final Chorus

He was pierced for our transgressions,

Bruised for all our iniquities.

The punishment that brought us peace

Was laid on Him so we’d be free.

By His wounds our hearts are healed,

The Lord has laid on Him it all—

The sin of many, great and small.

Outro

The Servant suffers, the Servant saves—

By His wounds, the world is changed.
