Isaiah 40 Teaching Notes / Biblical Summary

Isaiah opens a new section with words of comfort for God’s people. Jerusalem’s suffering is acknowledged, and forgiveness is proclaimed. God is revealed as incomparable—eternal, powerful, and tender. He measures the waters, names the stars, and yet gently shepherds His people.

Human strength fades, but those who wait on the Lord are renewed. Hope replaces despair as God’s greatness and care are held together.

Christ-Foreshadowing

Christ embodies both God’s majesty and gentleness, carrying the weak and offering renewed strength to those who trust in Him.

Isaiah 40 — “Comfort My People” (COMBINED CORE-MESSAGE STYLE — NEW SECTION)

🎯 Core Message: God speaks comfort to the weary, reveals His unmatched greatness, and renews strength for all who wait on Him.

Song Lyrics (Clear + Expansive)

Verse 1

“Comfort, comfort,” says the Lord,

Speak tenderly My faithful word.

Her warfare done, her debt is paid,

Her sin forgiven, hope relayed.

A voice cries out in desert land,

“Prepare the way at God’s command.

Make straight the path, lift every plain—

The King of glory soon will reign.”

Chorus

The grass will fade, the flowers fall,

But God’s true word outlasts it all.

From age to age, the same He stays—

Our hope, our strength, our surest praise.

Verse 2

Lift up your voice, don’t be afraid,

Good news to Zion now proclaimed:

“Behold your God!” His power shown,

His mighty arm, His sovereign throne.

Yet like a shepherd gentle, near,

He gathers lambs, He holds them dear.

He leads the weak with patient care,

Our God is strong—and always fair.

Chorus

The grass will fade, the flowers fall,

But God’s true word outlasts it all.

From age to age, the same He stays—

Our hope, our strength, our surest praise.

Bridge

Who measured seas within His hand?

Who marked the heavens, formed the land?

The nations rise, the nations fade,

Like dust upon the scales they’re weighed.

No idol speaks, no image sees,

No crafted god brings lasting peace.

The Holy One stands far above,

Unmatched in power, rich in love.

Final Chorus

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The everlasting God’s your Lord.

He does not faint, He does not tire,

His wisdom deeper, strength far higher.

Those who wait upon the Lord will rise,

With wings like eagles to the skies.

They’ll run and not grow weak or faint—

Renewed by God, their strength remade.

Outro

Wait for the Lord…

Your strength will rise.
