Isaiah 4 Teaching Notes / Biblical Summary

Following judgment, Isaiah presents hope. A purified remnant will remain, cleansed by God’s judgment and presence. The Lord will dwell among His people, providing protection and glory.

Christ-Foreshadowing

The Branch of the Lord points forward to Christ, through whom God’s presence dwells with His redeemed people.

Isaiah 4 — “The Branch of the Lord”

Verse 1

In that day the proud fall silent,

Shame laid bare, the land left dry.

What strength was trusted fades away,

Human glory passing by.

Yet from the ruins hope will rise,

Not born of flesh or human plan.

The Lord Himself will bring to life

A holy shoot within the land.

The Branch of the Lord will be beauty and glory,

Splendor renewed where ashes had been.

What He brings forth will stand forever,

Pure and pleasing in His sight again.

Those who remain, those written in life,

Will be called holy by God Most High.

Cleanse the bloodshed from her streets.

By spirit of judgment, fire refined,

He will make His people clean.

All who dwell in Jerusalem,

Marked for life by sovereign grace,

Restored before His face.

The Lord Himself will spread the shade

Of covenant and watchful light.

But by cleansing from inside.

What survives the purging flame

Bears the Lord’s restoring name.
