Isaiah 2 Teaching Notes / Biblical Summary

Isaiah envisions the future exaltation of Zion, where nations stream to the mountain of the Lord to learn His ways. God’s rule brings peace, justice, and the end of war. This hopeful vision contrasts with Judah’s present pride and idolatry.

The chapter ends with a warning: human pride will be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted in the day of judgment.

Christ-Foreshadowing

Jesus establishes the kingdom that draws all nations to God, teaching peace, humility, and submission to the Lord’s reign.

Isaiah 2 — “The Mountain of the Lord”

In days to come, above all lands,

The mountain of the Lord will stand.

Raised above the hills of pride,

Truth will flow on every side.

Nations gather, peoples say,

“Come, let us walk the Lord’s way.”

From Zion teaching fills the air,

The word of God goes everywhere.

Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord,

Leave the darkness, hear His word.

From war to peace, from fear to grace,

He’ll judge the nations, set the pace.

Swords to plowshares, spears laid down,

Peace will rise where pride was crowned.

He will judge between the lands,

Settle disputes by righteous hands.

They’ll learn no war, no blade will rise,

Peace will train both heart and mind.

O house of Jacob, come and see,

What life is meant to truly be.

Walk in light, reject the night,

Leave lesser gods behind.

When fear of Him drives pride away.

From splendor, power, holy blaze.

The day is coming, sure and strong,

When all that’s raised too high is wrong.

When human strength and idols die.

In humble light, in chosen ways.
