God’s judgment comes upon Egypt, disrupting its economy, leadership, and false gods. Yet astonishingly, the chapter ends with hope: Egypt, Assyria, and Israel are united in worship of the Lord.
Christ breaks down barriers between nations, forming one people who worship the Lord together.
Isaiah 19 — “Blessed Be Egypt”
Song Lyrics
Verse 1
Behold, the Lord rides swift and near,
On cloud and storm to Egypt’s fear.
Idols tremble, hearts give way,
Counsel fades, the wise decay.
Brother turns on brother’s hand,
City wars against its land.
Plans collapse, the proud grow blind,
Confusion grips the anxious mind.
Chorus
The Lord alone commands the tide,
He lifts and humbles strength and pride.
When human wisdom comes undone,
The Holy One is not outrun.
From shaking ground to mercy’s door,
God’s purposes will do much more.
Verse 2
The Nile grows thin, the waters fail,
Reeds dry up, the fishermen wail.
Craftsmen sigh, their work is vain,
Leaders stumble, none remain.
Zoan’s princes lose their way,
Counsel turns to foolish play.
What Egypt trusted slips like sand,
No human hand can save the land.
Chorus
The Lord alone commands the tide,
He lifts and humbles strength and pride.
When human wisdom comes undone,
The Holy One is not outrun.
From shaking ground to mercy’s door,
God’s purposes will do much more.
Verse 3
In that day a cry will rise,
To the Lord beyond the skies.
He will hear and He will send
A Savior strong, a faithful friend.
An altar stands in Egypt’s field,
A sign, a vow, a heart unsealed.
They’ll know the Lord, they’ll serve and pray,
He’ll strike and heal—restore their way.
Bridge
A highway forms where foes once stood,
From Egypt’s plain to Assyria’s wood.
Together they will worship sing,
Israel with them blessing bring.
Final Chorus
Blessed be Egypt, work of My hand,
Assyria too at My command.
Israel, My chosen inheritance—
Three made one in covenant dance.
From ancient hate to holy peace,
The Lord of hosts will not release.
Outro
Struck… then healed… then reconciled.
The nations blessed before God smiled.
