A righteous Branch from Jesse will rule with wisdom and justice. His reign brings peace, restoration, and the reversal of creation’s brokenness.
Jesus fulfills this vision as the Spirit-anointed King who brings lasting peace and restoration.
Isaiah 11 — “The Shoot from Jesse”
Song Lyrics
Verse 1
From Jesse’s stump, cut down and bare,
A tender shoot will rise from there.
From broken roots, new life will stand,
Not born by might, but by God’s hand.
The Spirit rests upon His frame:
Wisdom, counsel, strength, and flame.
Knowledge deep, the fear of God,
Delight in truth, the righteous path.
Chorus
Righteous King with Spirit-filled breath,
Justice spoken, life from death.
He will judge with faithful eyes,
Not by sight, not by lies.
With His word the proud will fall,
Peace will bloom, restoring all.
Verse 2
He won’t decide by what He sees,
Nor rule by rumors carried on the breeze.
The poor find justice in His reign,
The meek find hope, the wrong made plain.
Righteousness His belt secure,
Faithfulness forever pure.
Truth will guard His every way,
Light that does not fade away.
Chorus
Righteous King with Spirit-filled breath,
Justice spoken, life from death.
He will judge with faithful eyes,
Not by sight, not by lies.
With His word the proud will fall,
Peace will bloom, restoring all.
Verse 3
The wolf will rest where lambs once feared,
The leopard’s rage will disappear.
The calf and lion side by side,
A child will lead with fearless stride.
No harm, no hurt on holy ground,
Where knowledge of the Lord resounds.
As waters fill the ocean floor,
So peace will reign forevermore.
Bridge
In that day the nations see
The Root of Jesse raised as King.
A banner lifted for the land,
All peoples drawn by God’s command.
Final Chorus
Hope has come from fallen ground,
Life where loss and death were found.
From Jesse’s line a kingdom grows,
By Spirit’s power the whole world knows.
The earth restored, the curse undone,
By the reign of God’s Anointed One.
Outro
From stump to shoot, from night to dawn…
The promised King is coming on.
