Hosea 6 points forward to Christ, who later cites this chapter to expose hollow religiosity. Jesus fulfills what Israel could not — perfect obedience rooted in love and true knowledge of God.
The reference to restoration “on the third day” subtly anticipates resurrection hope, ultimately fulfilled in Christ, where genuine repentance and lasting restoration meet.
Hosea 6 — “Not Sacrifice, But Love”
Full Song Lyrics
Verse 1 — The Call to Return
“Come, let us turn back to the Lord,” they say
“He struck us down, He’ll heal our way
He tore, but He will bind again
Raise us up from where we’ve been
After two days, life restored
On the third day — before the Lord
Let us know Him, press ahead
Like morning light, His word is spread
Chorus — Too Soon
You rise with words that sound so right
But fade away by morning light
Your love is like the early dew
Here at dawn… by noon it’s through
Verse 2 — God’s Response
What shall I do with you, Ephraim?
Judah, how do I let you in?
Your faith dissolves like passing mist
A promise spoken — then dismissed
So I sent My prophets, sharp and true
Their words cut deep, My judgments too
My verdict shines like rising sun
The truth exposed — nowhere to run
Chorus — Too Soon
You speak of healing, speak of grace
But never linger in this place
You want the cure without the cost
A surface cry… a heart still lost
Verse 3 — Broken Covenant
Like Adam once, you broke the vow
You crossed the line I drew somehow
At Gilead, blood stains the ground
At Shechem, crimes in troops abound
The priests conspire, lie in wait
Murder lines the road they take
What I have seen is vile and grim
A harvest waits… ripe with sin
Bridge — The Measure
I desire love that does not flee
The knowledge of God… not ceremony
Not burnt offerings raised high
But faithful hearts before My eyes
Outro
You said, “Return,” but would not stay
You asked for dawn, but fled the day
Until your love learns how to last
You cannot heal… what’s rushing past
