Hebrews 3 calls believers to “consider Jesus,” comparing Him to Moses. Moses was faithful as a servant in God’s house; Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. The chapter then recalls Israel’s wilderness rebellion (Psalm 95). Though they saw miracles, unbelief hardened their hearts and prevented them from entering rest. The warning is clear: do not harden your hearts today. Perseverance reveals genuine participation in Christ.
Hebrews 3 — “Consider Jesus”
Verse 1
Holy brothers, sisters called,
Partners in a heavenward call,
Fix your eyes, don’t look away —
Consider Christ today.
Apostle sent from heaven’s throne,
High Priest standing for His own,
Faithful to the One who sent Him,
Builder of what cannot dim.
Pre-Chorus
Moses served within the house,
Faithful witness, meek and roused.
But Christ the Son stands over all —
The Builder greater than the hall.
Chorus
Consider Jesus — Son above,
Worthy of more glory and love.
The house we are if we will stand,
Holding fast what He began.
Do not harden, do not stray,
Hear His voice today.
Verse 2
In the desert long ago,
Hearts grew dull and faith ran low.
Though they saw the signs displayed,
Still rebellion slowly swayed.
Forty years of wandering sand,
Promise near, yet not in hand.
Not because His arm was weak —
But unbelief refused to seek.
Verse 3
“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not make rebellion choice.”
Not loud denial, not open war —
Just drifting from the open door.
Sin deceives in quiet tone,
Hardens hearts like weathered stone.
So encourage day by day,
Lest truth should slip away.
Bridge
We share in Christ if we remain,
Firm from start until the end.
They heard the news yet did not trust —
Fell in wilderness to dust.
The rest was promised, still ahead,
But unbelief left them misled.
Not all who leave Egypt’s chains
Enter where the promise reigns.
Final Chorus
Consider Jesus — faithful Son,
Greater glory, greater One.
Hold the hope and do not roam,
He leads the faithful home.
Hear Him now — do not delay,
His voice is speaking today.
