This song recounts Joseph’s imprisonment and God’s gift of dream interpretation. Joseph credits God alone as the source of wisdom. The cupbearer is restored, and the baker is executed, exactly as foretold.
While in prison, Joseph interprets the dreams of Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker. His interpretations prove accurate—the baker is executed, and the cupbearer restored—but the cupbearer forgets Joseph. Despite being overlooked, Joseph continues to trust God’s timing. This chapter highlights the virtue of patience when deliverance seems delayed. God’s silence does not mean abandonment; it means preparation. Through prison and waiting, Joseph’s faith deepens so that when the moment of promotion arrives, he will be ready to serve with humility and wisdom.
