Genesis 4 tells the story of Cain and Abel, the first sons of Adam and Eve. Both bring offerings to God, but only Abel’s is accepted because it comes from a sincere and faithful heart. Cain’s jealousy leads him to murder his brother, revealing how sin, when unchecked, grows from anger to destruction. God confronts Cain, showing justice but also mercy by marking him for protection. The chapter ends with the spread of human civilization and the birth of Adam and Eve’s new son, Seth, through whom people begin once again to call on the name of the Lord. It reminds us that though sin spreads, God’s grace continues to provide new beginnings.
