Genesis 3 recounts the tragic choice that brought sin into the world. Tempted by the serpent’s deceit, Eve and Adam eat the forbidden fruit, seeking wisdom apart from God. Instantly, shame and fear replace innocence, and separation enters their relationship with their Creator. God pronounces judgment on the serpent, the woman, and the man, yet even within the curse, He offers hope—a promise that one day the offspring of the woman would crush the serpent’s head. God clothes them with garments of grace and sends them from the garden, beginning humanity’s long story of redemption. This chapter shows both the seriousness of sin and the mercy of God who still pursues His people.
