Abraham’s life closes peacefully after he fathers additional sons and leaves everything to Isaac, the son of promise. God blesses Isaac, continuing the covenant line. Rebekah conceives twins, Esau and Jacob, after years of barrenness, and even in the womb, they struggle, foreshadowing future conflict. God declares that the older will serve the younger, revealing His sovereign choice. Later, Esau sells his birthright to Jacob for a meal, despising spiritual inheritance for temporary satisfaction. This chapter teaches that God’s purposes are decided by His grace, not human custom, and warns against trading eternal blessings for fleeting desires.
