This song picks up Genesis 19:30–38, exploring the aftermath of the city’s destruction. Lot and his daughters take refuge in a cave near Zoar. Overwhelmed by fear and believing they are the last survivors, Lot’s daughters make a painful decision to preserve their family line by intoxicating their father, resulting in the conception of Moab and Ben-Ammi — ancestors of the Moabites and Ammonites. Rather than dwelling on only tragedy, the song reframes this dark episode within the greater sweep of redemption: from Moab’s lineage arises Ruth, whose story leads into the ancestry of King David and ultimately to the birth of Jesus Christ. The chorus celebrates how God’s grace weaves redemption from brokenness: from the cave of sorrow to Bethlehem’s field, culminating in the cross.
