In Genesis 15, God appears to Abram in a vision, promising him countless descendants and the land of Canaan. Abram expresses doubt because he is childless, but God assures him that his offspring will be as numerous as the stars. Abram believes, and it is “credited to him as righteousness.” God then seals His covenant through a sacred ceremony, revealing that Abram’s descendants will experience slavery before inheriting the land. This chapter lays the foundation for faith: salvation and blessing come by believing God’s promises, not by human effort. It affirms that God’s word is trustworthy even when fulfillment seems distant.
