Galatians 1 opens with urgency. Paul is shocked that the believers are “so quickly deserting” the true gospel (Gal. 1:6). False teachers had entered and were teaching that Gentile believers must adopt Jewish law (especially circumcision) to be fully saved.
Paul makes three major points:
1️⃣ There is only one gospel.
Any “gospel” that adds works of the law to salvation is not good news at all (Gal. 1:7–9). Salvation is by grace through faith — not by law-keeping.
2️⃣ The gospel came by revelation, not human invention.
Paul did not receive it from the apostles initially. Christ Himself revealed it to him (Gal. 1:11–12). This defends the authority of the message.
3️⃣ Grace transforms persecutors.
Paul recounts his past as a violent persecutor of the church. His conversion proves that salvation is entirely God’s initiative (Gal. 1:13–16).
This chapter protects the foundation of Christianity: You are justified by grace, not by religious performance.
Galatians 1 highlights:
The cross is not an accessory to salvation — it is the entire foundation.
Galatians 1 — No Other Gospel
📖 Song Lyrics
I’m not writing with gentle hands,
This isn’t comfort — this is command.
I hear you’re turning far too fast
From grace that saved you at the last.
Who has come and changed the sound?
Added chains where freedom’s found?
Who told you Christ was not enough —
That grace needs law to make it tough?
Chorus
There is no other gospel,
No second way to be made whole.
No ladder built by human hands,
No earning grace, no safer plan.
If anyone should preach another —
Even angel, saint, or brother —
Let them stand outside the light,
For Christ alone has made us right.
I did not learn this from a man,
No council shaped redemption’s plan.
The Lord Himself revealed the truth —
I once destroyed what now I preach to you.
I hunted down the church in pride,
Thought I served God while love had died.
But mercy met me on that road,
And grace rewrote the life I’d known.
He set me apart before my birth,
Not by my goodness, not my worth.
And when He called, I did not wait —
I bowed before amazing grace.
Bridge
Not circumcision.
Not tradition.
Not performance.
Not religion.
Christ plus nothing — that’s the key.
Grace alone has set us free.
I did not seek the old acclaim,
Nor build this gospel on my name.
If pleasing men was still my aim,
I would not bear my Savior’s flame.
There is no other gospel sound —
Just Jesus lifted from the ground.
Crucified and risen King —
That is the truth we boldly sing.
