Ezekiel 28 —Teaching Summary / Biblical Meaning

Ezekiel 28 addresses the sin of pride in two distinct but connected sections. First, God confronts the prince of Tyre, a human ruler whose wealth and success led him to believe he was divine. Though gifted with wisdom and prosperity, the prince mistook God-given ability for self-made greatness. God reminds him that despite his claims, he is mortal, and his downfall will come through violent judgment at the hands of foreign nations.

The chapter then shifts into a poetic lament over the king of Tyre, using exalted language that reaches beyond a merely human ruler. The imagery describes a being of extraordinary beauty, wisdom, and privilege, placed in Eden and serving as an anointed guardian until pride and corruption were found within him. This section portrays the deeper spiritual reality behind earthly arrogance, revealing how pride leads to expulsion, destruction, and disgrace. Together, both sections show that whether human or cosmic, pride that seeks to rival God always ends in humiliation. The fall of Tyre’s ruler becomes a warning that no wisdom, beauty, or authority can stand once the heart is lifted against the Lord.

Christ-Foreshadowing

Ezekiel 28 contrasts false kingship with true kingship. Where pride sought to rise and fell, Christ humbled Himself and was exalted. Jesus is the true King whose authority comes not from wealth or power, but from obedience, righteousness, and sacrificial love.

Ezekiel 28 — “The Fall of Pride”

Song Lyrics

Verse 1 — The Prince of Tyre

The word of the Lord came unto me

Son of man, speak boldly

Your heart is proud, you claim divine

You say, “I am a god enthroned in time”

Yet you are man and not the Most

Wisdom twisted, riches boast

By your trade your heart was raised

You trusted wealth, not the One who saves

Chorus

You thought your throne was set on high

But you are dust before My eye

No wisdom stands, no crown survives

When pride declares itself divine

Verse 2 — Judgment Declared

Foreigners come, the ruthless kind

They draw the sword, your beauty blind

They cast you down into the pit

Your end will silence every myth

Will you still say, “I am a god”

When slain beneath another’s rod?

You die the death of the uncircumcised

For I have spoken — says the Lord Most High

Chorus

You trusted what your hands had made

But kingdoms fall when truth is traded

You will know when breath departs

I alone search every heart

Verse 3 — The King of Tyre (Lament)

You were the seal of wisdom, full

Perfect in beauty, splendid rule

In Eden once, adorned in light

Covered in stones, reflecting sight

Anointed guardian, placed on high

Walking where the fire draws nigh

Blameless found in all your ways

Till wickedness corrupted praise

Bridge — The Fall

Your heart was lifted by your glow

Your wisdom bent to self-bestow

So I cast you from the holy hill

And struck you down by sovereign will

From within your fire arose

It consumed you where you stood exposed

Before all kings you were laid bare

A warning sign, a shattered glare

Final Chorus — The End of the Proud

All who see you stand in dread

You’ve become a terror — it is said

Never again will you arise

Your splendor lost to judgment’s fire

Outro

Thus says the Lord — the end is sealed

What pride concealed has been revealed
