In triumph, Moses and the Israelites sing a song of praise: “The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.” They celebrate God’s victory over Egypt and His faithfulness to lead them to His holy dwelling. Miriam leads the women in joyful worship with tambourines. Yet soon after, the people complain over bitter water, and God provides healing at Marah. This chapter contrasts victory and vulnerability, teaching that praise must continue beyond the moment of triumph and that God’s power to save also heals and sustains.
