God announces one last plague: the death of every firstborn in Egypt. Moses delivers the warning, declaring that this act will compel Pharaoh to release Israel. Yet God also makes a distinction—His people will be spared. This chapter marks the solemn turning point between judgment and deliverance. It reveals that God’s justice is measured and purposeful, not impulsive. The coming death of the firstborn shows the cost of hardened rebellion, while pointing ahead to the greater deliverance that will come through the death of the true Firstborn, Jesus Christ, who redeems all who trust in Him.
